This page provides general guidance only. Tracks of Change is not an emergency rescue service. If wildlife is injured, sick, orphaned or in danger, contact a qualified wildlife rescue service, wildlife carer or vet as soon as possible.
First steps
Before touching the animal, check the situation is safe.
Injured wildlife can bite, scratch, kick or carry disease. Do not attempt to handle dangerous animals including snakes, bats, large kangaroos or aggressive wildlife.
What to do

Stay safe
Check for traffic, pets, children and danger before approaching.

Keep calm
Reduce noise, movement and handling wherever possible.

Contain safely
Only if safe, place small animals in a ventilated box with a towel.

Keep warm and quiet
Place the animal somewhere dark, quiet and secure while seeking help.

Contact help
Call the right rescue, carer, vet or specialist service for advice.
